Chongqing Dairy Status Report: Dairy Industry has great potential

On the morning of April 23, 2006, the Prime Minister of *** was pleased to indue after visiting the Chongqing Everbright Dairy Science and Technology Park: "I have a dream, so that every Chinese, first of all, a child, can drink a pound of milk every day." The wish is full of deep concern for the people of the country, especially the next generation. Yesterday was "International Milk Day", the reporter conducted a survey on the development of dairy industry in Chongqing

"A cup of milk is strong and a nation, a cup of milk is booming in an industry." This is the advanced experience that Western countries have summed up in the healthy development of the whole nation. According to statistics, at present, the world's per capita annual consumption of milk is 100 kilograms. The per capita annual consumption of developed countries is as high as 200 kilograms, while China's per capita annual consumption is only 14 kilograms, which is a huge gap with Western countries.

Per capita consumption is only half of the country

As people's awareness of fresh milk consumption has increased, Chongqing's citizens' demand for fresh milk has grown rapidly. According to statistics, last year Chongqing urban residents consumed a total of 220,000 tons of milk, and per capita consumption of milk was 33.5 kg, ranking fourth in the country. However, from the perspective of the per capita consumption of milk in the city, it is not optimistic. Last year, the city's per capita consumption of milk was only 7 kilograms, half of the national per capita consumption.

With the development of the dairy industry in our city, so far, the city has a total of 24,500 cows, including 18,800 adult cows and about 90,000 tons of milk. The city has 7 dairy processing plants, with a daily processing capacity of 750 tons. It has a wide range of products, including Pap and ultra-high temperature disinfected milk, yogurt, whole milk powder, formula milk and milk drinks. However, from the perspective of market distribution, most of the dairy products consumed by Chongqing citizens are dairy products in the field. The local dairy products only account for 49.6% of the market, and the local milk source only accounts for 37.2% of the total dairy market in Chongqing.

Several major factors restrict the development of the dairy industry

Chongqing Dairy has a distinctive economic characteristics of suburban dairy industry. The dairy farming method is mainly based on scattered farmer households, and the breeding grounds are mainly concentrated in the suburbs of Chongqing.

At present, the development of dairy industry in our city still faces difficulties. According to authoritative analysis, the first is that the urbanization process has objectively caused repeated investment in the construction of dairy bases. For a long time, in order to facilitate milk sales and processing, the dairy bases in our city are mainly distributed in the suburban areas. Due to the influence of urban development, governments and enterprises at all levels have to re-invest huge human, material and financial resources every three to five years. The new dairy cattle base not only caused huge waste of resources, but also restricted the scale of dairy farmers' expansion, damaging the enthusiasm of dairy farmers, and seriously hindered the industrialization and scale construction of the base.

Secondly, dairy cows are inseparable from a large amount of forage resources. At present, the dairy farms in our city are generally concentrated in the high-income areas where grassland resources are scarce. There are not many land that can be used for cows forage cultivation. Farmers have to use cows to raise cows. Wild grass in the corner.

Third, the dairy industry in our city has a low productivity level, mainly distributed by farmers. The scale is more than 3-10, and there are only 5 dairy cows. More than 3,000 dairy farmers in the city are scattered in the suburbs and near the suburbs. The dairy farmers have strong arbitrarily strong cows, and the single-head production of dairy cows shows a downward trend, and the quality of milk is also affected.

Fourth, dairy products processing enterprises are small in scale, products are similar, market development is not enough, and the varieties are single. Some enterprises have only a few products with high sales, the development strategy is the same, the product homogenization tendency is serious, the focus of market development is mostly concentrated in the main city, and the development of suburban counties and cities is not enough, resulting in local milk. The market share of products declined.

In addition, local enterprises have not been able to attract foreign investment and technology, and have restricted the development of local milk production for a long time, making Chongqing dairy industry develop slowly under the great development of the national dairy industry. In the process of accelerating the development of the dairy industry, there is still a phenomenon of heavy quantity growth and light weight improvement. It still relies on increasing the number of dairy cows to increase milk production. The growth mode of the dairy industry needs to be transformed into an intensive type.

Market prospects

At present, there are more than 200 million dairy consumers in China, and less than 100 million consumers regularly purchase. The consumption of dairy products in China will continue to grow rapidly with the growth of China's economy and per capita disposable income. According to the consumption stage of the National Food and Nutrition Advisory Committee in the early 21st century, per capita milk consumption will reach 18 kg by 2019, 28 kg by 2020, and 41 kg by 2030.

According to the demand forecast for the Chongqing market, by 2019, the city's milk consumption will reach 420,000 tons, of which liquid milk consumption such as fresh milk will reach 360,000 tons, the market gap is 233,900 tons, and the gap ratio is as high as 55.7%.

According to the “Eleventh Five-Year” development plan of Chongqing Dairy, by the end of 2019, the number of dairy cows in the city will reach 50,000, with an annual output of 200,000 tons. With an annual output of 300,000 tons of dairy products, the dairy industry has an output value of 1.5 billion yuan and a profit and tax of 100 million yuan. In 2019, the city's dairy cows have a stock of 80,000 heads and an annual output of 300,000 tons. With an annual output of 450,000 tons of dairy products, the output value of dairy products industry is 2.5 billion yuan, and profits and taxes are 200 million yuan.

Such a broad market prospect will certainly stimulate the rapid development of Chongqing dairy industry.

The situation of teenagers drinking milk in our city is unknown.

A child has to drink a pound of milk a day, but yesterday the reporter interviewed the Municipal Nutrition Society, the Municipal Dairy Management Office, the Municipal Education Commission and other relevant departments. No authoritative department has conducted a thorough investigation. The situation of juvenile drinking is still a group. Misty.

However, a few days ago, the Municipal Education Commission conducted a sample survey on the physical condition of young people in the city. It was found that the physique of young people continued to show a trend of “double peaks”, that is, rural children were generally malnourished and urban children were obese. According to the person in charge of the Physical Education Department of the Municipal Education Commission, in recent years, the education department has always attached great importance to the physical and mental health of young people. It has vigorously promoted and encouraged students to drink nutritious food such as milk. However, due to economic constraints, the milk intake of children in rural areas of our city is generally insufficient.

The origin of "Milk Day"

In May 1961, the International Dairy Federation held its first celebration of "Milk Day" in Germany, and decided to vote for "International Milk Day" on the third Tuesday of May each year. Since then, through the proposal of relevant UN organizations and soliciting opinions from more than 700 dairy industry people around the world, in 2000, the World Food and Agriculture Organization will determine June 1st as “World Milk Day”, and the last Wednesday of September will be “International Student Milk Day”.
