Campus White Pollution Survey Report I. Introduction

White pollution refers to pollution caused by plastic bags. Because plastic products are difficult to decompose, discarded plastic products can cause serious harm to the environment. However, unfortunately, the majority of middle school students know little about white pollution, and their environmental awareness is weak. Every day, white pollution is created, and the original holy campus is eroded by white pollution. In order to understand and solve the problem of white pollution on campus, we conducted some investigations on white pollution on campus and tried to find solutions to make the middle school students understand the harm of white pollution, improve the environmental awareness of the students, and also clean the campus and promote Taojiang. County white pollution prevention and control work.

Second, relevant knowledge about white pollution

1. The harm of white pollution.

The harm of white pollution is multi-faceted. The plastic products buried in the soil have caused great difficulties for farming and sowing, affecting the absorption of water and nutrients by crops, polluting groundwater, and reducing crop yields or even no crops. If the plastic is burned, it will generate a lot of harmful gases and damage the environment. Pour plastic into the ocean. If you eat it by sea birds and fish, it will cause these animals to die. If you wrap the propellers of some ships, it will cause a sea traffic accident.

2. At present, the internationally advanced white pollution control measures.

The key to the formation of white pollution is that plastics are not easily decomposed. Therefore, scientists have developed a variety of self-destructive and degradable plastics, such as bio-destructive plastics, chemical self-destructive plastics, and medical self-destructive plastics. The guiding idea for making these plastics is to add a chemical to the plastic so that the plastic can be dissolved or eliminated by light, bacteria or other chemicals. The common feature of these methods is that they are expensive and cannot compete with cheap non-degradable plastics.

Third, the investigation

Our team randomly selected 50 people from our school to participate in our survey. A total of 45 cases were collected, accounting for 90%. The results are as follows:

Question 1: Do you know what white pollution is?

Of the investigators, 2/3 said they knew white pollution, while one third said it was unclear. The results show that most middle school students know what white pollution is, which has a lot to do with school education. However, there are still some people who are not clear, which shows that schools should also strengthen the education of students.

Question 2: Do you often buy small foods?

22.2% of people occasionally buy small foods, 71.1% often buy, and only 6.7% don't buy small foods. This is because the student family rarely has time to have breakfast at home, so there are many people who come to school to buy food and hunger, and most of the food packaging bags are plastic products, which provides a prerequisite for the white pollution of the campus.

Question 3: How do you deal with plastic bags?

The above picture shows that only 7 people throw plastic bags anywhere and throw them into the trash can, but this does not mean that most plastic bags are in the garbage bin, because according to the observations of our team members, many people know that they should Throw the plastic bag into the garbage bin, but always throw it at the garbage bin. When the wind blows, the plastic bag will fly over the campus. It is also worth mentioning that among the two students who choose other students. One person said that he would throw the plastic bag into the garbage bin seen in sight. we discover. There weren't many garbage bins on campus before, and most of the rusty, heavy, fixed old-fashioned bins were inconvenient. However, after the start of the semester, the school increased the number of garbage bins, which is helpful for preventing white pollution on campus.

Question 4: Ask students to make some suggestions on how to deal with white pollution on campus.

Suggestions are as follows:

Schools should educate students to enhance their environmental awareness and promote the dangers of white pollution.

Students should not throw garbage at random, and talk about the importance of environmental protection to those who throw waste.

The school unified the garbage sorting, recycling, and centralized processing.

Add a garbage bin and place it in a place with serious white pollution.

Design an eco-label that hangs in a striking place.

Minimize the use of plastic bags to pack items and eliminate the use of disposable foam boxes.

Call on the whole society to enhance environmental awareness.

Schools should not burn garbage.

Through this survey, we have come to the following conclusions: 1 Most students are more familiar with white pollution, but some people still have unclear about the concept of white pollution, which requires schools to enhance environmental education. 2 Although quite a few people know what white pollution is, they still use or discard white contaminants. It can be seen that it is very important for schools to cultivate students' concept of environmental protection. At the same time, schools must also make practical actions, such as setting up classified garbage bins and organizing the recycling of valuable garbage. Investigation on the status of white pollution in schools

Through the previous stage of the survey, we have investigated the students' understanding of white pollution and discussed with the students how to prevent white pollution on campus. At this stage, our main purpose is to investigate the white pollution situation in our school and to discuss the feasibility of the treatment method.

First of all, the work we do is to weigh the garbage produced in a class one day, sort out the type of garbage and the proportion of white pollution, to estimate the amount of white pollutants produced in one day. Take the class of Gao Er as an example. The garbage produced in this class is about 2kg. The main ingredients are paper, plastic bags, plastic bottles, cans, foamed lunch boxes and some cores. Among them, there are nearly 100 plastic bags, 5 plastic bottles, 7 foam lunch boxes, and 2 cans. It is not difficult to see that food packaging is a major component of campus white pollution. We have also found that paper and cans are recyclable, and there are currently places in the society for recycling waste paper and cans. So we focused on the recycling of plastics.

At the school's garbage station, we met a garbage picker who recycled the plastic bottle. Our team members asked him about the purpose and price of the recycling, and he did not answer. In order to inquire about the recycling of plastics, our team deliberately used the extracurricular time to interview the regular waste recycling bins in Taiyuan City. Unfortunately, no plastic recycling was found. Finally, by accessing the information on the Internet, we learned that plastics can be recycled, but they cannot be reused to make food packaging bags, and can only be used as building materials or agricultural greenhouses. It is worth noting that some individual small enterprises that violate the regulations privately recycle plastic waste and use it with some toxic organic solvents for cleaning, which is harmful to the human body. Therefore, when the school is collecting and recycling garbage, it must send the recycled plastic products to the regular recycling unit.

Third, the conclusion

Through the above survey, we found that there is white pollution on the campus. Take Yizhong as an example. Every day, we need to produce about 4,000 food packaging bags, which will make many acres of land lose the ability to cultivate! Moreover, students lack a sense of urgency about white pollution and adopt a light attitude, which is not optimistic. If everyone thinks this way, then in a few years, is there still land available for cultivation in China?

Our middle school students should not ignore the social problem of white pollution, but must take the spirit of the master, actively promote the harm of white pollution, promote environmental awareness, and thus make the whole society have environmental protection concept - this It is our goal. our suggestion:

Based on our survey and the information we have investigated, we recommend that the school implement a waste separation and recycling system. The specific operation methods are as follows:

1 Each class establishes a small garbage spot in the class, and collects garbage according to paper, plastic, metal, battery, and other five categories. Due to the large number of papers and plastics, it can be cleaned once a day. In addition, considering the harm of the battery to the environment, it is recommended that students recycle the used batteries.

2 The school set up several large garbage bins to uniformly collect the garbage in the classified garbage bins of each class, and set up some small classified garbage bins on the campus. The school is responsible for contacting the social recycling unit to deliver the recovered garbage in a timely manner.

3 Schools should set up a scoring system to encourage classes that have a good job in garbage collection. The recovered revenue can also be returned to each class.

It should be noted that in order to truly eliminate white pollution on campus, it is necessary to establish an environmental protection concept in the minds of students. Therefore, it is recommended that schools strengthen environmental education, such as collecting environmental protection signs and holding environmental song competitions, so that environmental awareness can be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. .

Strengthening environmental education for students is also aimed at promoting environmental protection knowledge to the whole society. Therefore, it is recommended that schools carry out public welfare activities in various aspects, such as organizing students on the Earth Day on April 22 and World Environment Day on June 5. To publicize the importance of environmental protection, only the whole society is talking about environmental protection, and it will fundamentally prevent white pollution.
