Suzhou University Student Employment Survey Report

90% of graduates enter non-public enterprises
Mechanical electronics professional "eat incense"
Initial monthly salary of 1500-2000 yuan
The contradiction between structural supply and demand is still outstanding
The level of education has been greatly improved
Graduate employment affects thousands of households. According to the information from the Suzhou University Graduate Career Guidance Center, last year, the city received a total of 37,486 graduates of various types and continued to maintain a good development trend. In particular, the level of education has increased significantly. Last year, the city received a total of 58 doctoral students, 1,201 master students, and 20,563 university students. A total of 21,822 graduates from colleges and above were received, accounting for 58.2% of the total number of recipients in the city; the number of graduate students received was 1,259, an increase of 52.1%. Both the total amount of reception and the quality of reception are among the best in the province.
However, one fact that cannot be avoided is that in 2004, the total number of graduates received by the city grew by 33.5% year-on-year, and after breaking through 37,000, the total number of graduates received in 2005 was still around 37,000. At the same time, Suzhou graduates are exploding, and the structural contradiction between supply and demand is still outstanding.
Su students increase pressure
In 2005, the number of graduates from Suzhou University was 30,116. This information is 6208 more than the 23,908 people in 2004. That is to say, in Suzhou, compared with 2004, the total number of graduates received is basically the same. The sudden increase of Suzhou students has naturally increased employment pressure.
So, how many 2005 Suzhou graduates have not yet been employed? There is currently no data available. Because the “employment rate” of the passing graduates is the result of dividing the number of unemployed registered graduates by the total number. The problem is that Suzhou students are also "two-way" and are distributed throughout the country. Some people have graduated from the examination, some have stayed in the local area, and the relevant parties are not in control; while others, whether they are employed or not, they are not registered. As a result, there are very few registered unemployed people, so that the “employment rate” issued by all cities in the country is very high.
Non-public enterprises have the most appetite
According to the statistics of the city's personnel department, with the completion of the restructuring of state-owned enterprises and the birth of new non-public enterprises, as well as changes in the concept of graduates' career choices, non-public enterprises have become the main destination of the majority of graduates. Among the nearly 30,000 people who have been implemented in the city, non-public enterprises have received 91.0% of the total number of enterprises receiving the city, and continue to be the biggest carrier for recruiting graduates. The number of people employed by state agencies and institutions in the city was 671 and 4,581 respectively.
The five county-level cities in Suzhou have also become new highlights for receiving graduates. According to the data, in 2005, Suzhou City received a total of 15,330 graduates, and five county-level cities received a total of 22,156 people. The ratio of urban and five county-level cities was 1:1.45. Among them, the total receipts of Zhangjiagang City and Wujiang City increased significantly. In addition, five county-level cities received a total of 277 graduate students in 2005, an increase of 159 over the previous year, an increase of 135%. The county-level city is increasingly attractive to high-level graduates.
On the whole, graduates of engineering majors are more dominant, and new professions face new opportunities. The graduates of mechanical and electronic engineering majors that match the industrial structure of our city are still “sweet”. The employment of professional graduates with obvious characteristics in the medical and engineering industries is generally good, such as logistics and marketing. Graduates of new majors are in short supply.

Electronic machinery absorption of large households

According to the relevant information, the mechanical and electronic industries are still the main force for Suzhou to absorb graduates. This point can be seen from the "Suzhou 2005 Talent Demand Professional Catalogue" released in early 2005, and can also be confirmed from the latest market demand. From the "Suzhou 2005 Talent Demand Professional Catalogue", we can see that among the 66,249 professional requirements listed in 16 industries, mechanical and electrical appliances accounted for 17,341, and IT electronics accounted for 12,645. Accounted for nearly half of the share. According to the latest survey of 314 graduates in urban areas, the top two are also mechanical and electronic, which are 1,514 and 959 respectively.
The number of talents absorbed by the counties and districts varies depending on the industrial structure of their respective jurisdictions. For example, the top five in the urban area are: marketing, machinery, electronics, information technology, and corporate management.
University Department slows down master's salary drop
A region has a basic position for the initial monthly salary of a regional graduate. Taking university students as an example, the initial monthly salary reference price for urban employment graduates given by the Suzhou Labor Department last year was 1,600 yuan, and the reference price for the initial monthly salary of employment graduates given by the high-tech zone was 2,000 yuan. The initial monthly salary of employment graduates does not include personal contributions to the provident fund of more than 2,000 yuan. In fact, in many positions, 10 to 1, or even dozens of people seek a position,
Many graduates are trying to get a job, even if they are below this price, they are doing it. It is precisely because there are so many “reserve graduates” that employers can choose. The initial monthly salary of graduates receiving Suzhou in the past two years has basically not increased. A research report revealed that the average starting salary of the university department in the city last year was 1,589 yuan, which was only 4.13% higher than the previous year's 1,526 yuan. The initial monthly salary of graduates and masters in almost all regions has been reduced.
Supply and demand contradictions are still outstanding
Caring for graduates' employment is an important part of the city's personnel work. In order to introduce more outstanding graduates, last year, the city issued the "Opinions on Further Improving the Employment of Graduates of Colleges and Universities" to create a more relaxed employment environment for graduates. These include simplifying the procedures, canceling the signing of the business unit's apprenticeship agreement; implementing zero-fee fees for the entire employment process of graduates; strengthening the registration system, recommendation system and employment assistance system for urban graduates; and further implementing high-level graduates The "first settled, after employment" policy. In April last year, the city officially opened the “Suzhou Graduate Employment Network”, setting up employment guidance, employment policy, latest information, talent pool inquiry, file inquiry, demand information inquiry and other columns to provide employment and quick information for graduates. A positive role. In the parks, high-tech zones and other areas, large-scale campus recruitment to the whole country has also been organized. But even then, there is still a contradiction in which the graduates say that "work is not easy to find" and the unit says "the talent cannot be recruited."
The gap between the majors studied is large. In Suzhou, the shortage of IT talent has brought about a hot training. For example, network engineers, software engineers, game software, software outsourcing training --- more than half a year of training, the charges must be more than 10,000 yuan, becoming the "most profitable" training. It is worth noting that half of the students from the university accounted for half of the students. A considerable number of trainers learned computer science and even graduated from famous universities such as NTU. In this regard, Gao Shengtao, general manager of the Suzhou Ossur Software Foreign Business Department, believes that the disconnection between university education and corporate needs is the main reason why companies believe that “talents are difficult”. He said that even if many computer majors graduated from college, they could not immediately compete for software development, and they were left out of the software industry. In this way, it is no wonder that many companies have to have "work experience" as a prerequisite to keep those recent graduates out.
The employer has high requirements. Liu Weiguo, deputy director of the Employment Guidance Center of Suzhou University graduates, believes that many employers are too demanding and pay too much attention to their own interests, which is another aspect that makes graduates difficult to find employment. He said that on the one hand, enterprises say that they can't recruit people, but on the other hand, one reality is that, instead of saying that there are thousands of recruitment activities in Suzhou every year, they say that the annual spring double-sex will be less than the whole country. There will also be 70,000 and 80,000 graduates coming to Suzhou to apply for it. Is it so many students who are not enough for our employers to choose? An objective reality is that even if the government uses a lot of manpower and resources to hold a "double election", the proportion that ultimately leads to the employment of graduates is not very high. Under the conditions of market economy, many enterprises do have the phenomenon of “heavy practicality and light cultivation”.
There are big differences in hiring treatment. There is a big difference in salary levels, which is one reason why many positions cannot be “matched”. Xiao Jiang, a graduate of the university who has not yet found a job, put forward his own views on "do not pick and choose, immediately get employed." He said, "Do not pick and choose, immediately get employed" sounds good, the problem is, give you a job with a monthly salary of 1,000 yuan, what can you do?
At the symposium of a personnel manager in the high-tech zone, a personnel manager lamented that their company had not recruited the required technical backbone for a month. The personnel managers told her after listening that the treatment you gave was too low. It turned out to be true. The company raised its monthly salary by 20% in its recruitment and promised to increase the year-end bonus by 10%. As a result, it found a suitable candidate within a week. Xiao Jiang believes that there are indeed many enterprises, "you have to run the horse, and you have to eat less grass." In many positions, their graduates can only become one of the “vulnerable groups”.
The mentality of choosing a career needs to be positive. However, Miss Zhou, a 2005 graduate who has successfully obtained civil servants last year, believes that for graduates, it is the key to success and a positive attitude. She said that although we can analyze many objective factors that the graduates have great employment pressure, as a graduate, they still have to work hard to see the problem and ask themselves "Do I have a long history? My competitive advantage is Where?" Maintaining a good career mentality and taking the initiative to adapt to this society is the best policy. Because, in the market, recruitment is under the "two-way choice", we should not simply affirm what or deny.
A professional in the personnel department suggested that graduates should still master the principle of “two firsts and twos”, that is, if you are a foreign student, you can adopt the method of “first settled, then employed”; you are a student of Suzhou. You can take the form of “employment first, then career choice”.
