Career Planning Survey of College Students' Employment Survey Report

With the expansion of enrollment in major universities in recent years, the overall employment pressure in the country is severe, and the employment pressure of graduates is unprecedented. For each college student, planning their careers early, analyzing and summarizing the subjective and objective factors that determine their careers, and determining the goals of struggle can be in an invincible position in a highly competitive employment environment.
The purpose of the survey : First, a new description of the development of career planning for contemporary college students; second, through the investigation of factors affecting the employment of college students, better adjust the relationship between employers and graduates; third is to help college students as soon as possible To know oneself, the school provides employment guidance for students to enable them to pursue an ideal career.
Survey form : From March to April 2004, 705 students from 14 universities in Guangzhou were randomly selected for survey, including 46.8% for boys and 53.2% for girls. The questionnaire recovery rate was 100%, 668 valid questionnaires, and the effective rate was 94.8%. Data processing was performed using SPSS 10.0 software, and statistical charts were drawn using EXCEL.
Survey content: Guangzhou university students have four aspects of satisfaction with their majors, their understanding of self, their attention to employment prospects, and their career expectations. The survey results are as follows:

First, the degree of satisfaction with the majors of the students The satisfaction of the students depends on whether they can choose their own love, whether the profession can help them find good and favorite jobs in the future. The survey found that 21.0% of college students are more satisfied with their majors, 66.6% of college students are unclear, 10.0% of college students are not satisfied, 2.4% of college students are very dissatisfied with their majors, and the satisfaction of each major There are no significant differences.
The direct performance of dissatisfaction with the profession is the lack of motivation for the major or the unwillingness to engage in profession-related industries after graduation. The lack of understanding of the profession and the lack of understanding of the profession when filling out the volunteer exam may be one of the reasons why only 21.0% of the students are satisfied with the major they are studying. Because of the embarrassment of college life, I don’t understand the various professions, I have a mystery, and I chose a profession that I didn’t like in the future. In addition, the contradiction between personal interests and social needs may also be one of the reasons. For example, a classmate is very interested in archaeology, but the social needs are relatively small. At this time, there may be psychological conflicts. Maybe a professional who is not interested in it but earns money, and the difference between dreams and reality, so that The major is not satisfied. The profession determines the career orientation to a certain extent. If you are dissatisfied with the profession or have a vague attitude, it will inevitably affect the development of your potential and the future career choice.
Second, the degree of self-awareness self-awareness includes personal interests and specialties, personal personality and values, personal selected goals and needs, personal emotional intelligence, personal work experience, personal qualifications and abilities, personal physiological conditions, etc. One aspect is one of the important contents of career planning. In the survey, only 6.7% of the respondents had a clearer understanding of themselves, while 52.3% of the respondents were vague about their various abilities and interests, and 41.0% of the respondents did not understand themselves. There is no significant difference in self-awareness among students of different majors in different grades. This shows that more college students fail to pay close attention to their own characteristics, find their own problems, and promote their own development. Then, here is the question of the career goals of college students.
A career goal is a predictable, achievable goal. The choice of career goals is not fixed. The key is to be based on self-reality, which requires us to understand ourselves. Recognize yourself through personal analysis, estimate your abilities, identify your own personality, find your own interests, identify your own strengths, measure your own gaps, and use this to develop yourself and shape yourself so that your talents can be fully utilized. However, the survey shows that most college students lack a deep understanding of their abilities, interests, and professional tendencies, and naturally their career goals are vague.
Third, the degree of attention to the employment prospects The degree of attention to the employment situation directly affects the level of preparation for the chosen profession and the level of achievement of future careers. In the survey, only 14.5% of the respondents had a clear understanding of the current employment situation. Students of different grades have no significant difference in their employment prospects, and students of different majors have significant differences in their employment prospects. Students who are unpopular are more concerned about employment prospects than those of popular majors.
The reasons for this situation may come from two aspects. On the one hand, on campus, the comfortable, leisurely life and the absolute financial support of parents have caused many college students to forget or temporarily forget the tension brought about by the pressure of employment and rarely touch the outside world. Some students do study only every day, lacking the accuracy and understanding of employment. On the other hand, the employment guidance provided by the school is not enough. In the survey, 73.5% of the students found that the current employment guidance provided by the school is not enough, and more detailed and detailed career planning guidance is needed.
IV. Occupational Expectation Status The occupational expectation factors can be broadly divided into three aspects: reputational stability factors, intrinsic value factors, and external value factors. In the survey, respondents ranked their salary, development space, city location, hobbies, and social status in descending order of their own choices. Among them, the choice of the primary factors considered in career choices, development space, hobbies have become the first choice of most respondents, followed by salary, city location, social status, there is no significant difference between boys and girls. In the survey, it was found that 83.3% of the respondents thought that “the future” was more important than “Qian Tu”, and 60.3% of the subjects were willing to act as “chicken heads” rather than “phoenix tails”. The above results show that most college students pay more attention to the intrinsic value of work.
The analysis from the above four aspects shows that the career planning of college students in Guangzhou presents the following characteristics: Most college students are less satisfied with the majors they are studying; the planning of careers in Guangzhou is still vague, self-awareness is not enough, most people do not have Clear goals; Guangzhou city students have little knowledge of the needs of social talents. In addition, the employment information provided by the school is insufficient, and the channels for students to understand employment-related information are less; the career expectations of Guangzhou university students pay more attention to development space and hobbies. Therefore, we believe that according to the above characteristics, schools should strengthen the guidance of students' career planning, and college students should plan their careers early and be fully prepared for the future.
