Summary report on summer social practice in 2019
One. The motive of practice has entered the 21st century. At the same time that China’s economy has made rapid progress, China’s legal system has also made significant progress. The concept of human rights and other new concepts have gradually changed people’s perceptions of things that were originally considered reasonable. We want to use this social survey to understand whether the attitude of the people in Xi'an on the death penalty has undergone major changes with economic development, and at the same time, it will promote legal knowledge on this aspect.
two. Practical purposes By participating in social surveys in person, we can better understand the theoretical knowledge about social surveys that we have learned in the classroom and reach the theoretical connection. There is also a preliminary understanding of their situation in the face of different groups in the society, while exercising our communicative ability.
three. Practical Tasks We conducted 3,150 social survey questionnaires on death penalty public opinion for 11 occupational groups, teachers, students, teachers, university students, and university teachers in the 9 counties and districts of Xi'an, and publicized the death penalty knowledge for some groups.
four. A preliminary understanding of the death penalty, also known as capital punishment, one of the oldest penalties in the world, refers to the execution of a prisoner’s life based on the powers conferred by law, and the prisoners usually commit serious crimes locally, although this is “serious” The definition of "crime" is often controversial. But generally speaking, "killing people and killing lives", for the countries that currently have the death penalty, "deliberate killing" must be one of the possibilities for the prisoner to be sentenced to death. In the pre-investigation preparations, it is learned that nearly 200 countries have legally abolished the death penalty, and more than 40 have actually abolished the death penalty. Under this international trend, domestic scholars have their own opinions, but I am consistent with the view of a common student and most people, and belong to the traditional view of 'killing and paying for life'. Although there are hundreds of people, but because of the traditional concept of the past millennium, I think most people also support the death penalty system.
Fives. Practice situation
a. Preparation before practice After the final exam, we will begin to prepare relevant materials and discuss some issues. We have finalized the design of the questionnaire after several discussions and guidance from our instructors, as well as discussions about possible problems with people in the survey, and then related deployments on safety and routes and accommodation. .
b. Practice Our activities started formally on July 10 and we completed the task satisfactorily after 17 days of hard work. Due to the number of objects that the event is oriented to, and the preparations before the event are not perfect and the non-cooperation of the relevant units, etc., our activities have unexpected difficulties. But we have successfully completed this task through the joint efforts of 10 of us to overcome all difficulties. For example, the activity is just in the middle and high school teachers and students during the holiday time, the school staff is scarce, it is difficult to focus on the investigation. At the end of the day, we focused on investigating students who took some supplementary classes. The teachers conducted investigations through the concentration of their studies. In addition, we did not consider the situation of no university in the suburbs before the event, and finally conducted a centralized investigation through the universities in the 9th district. Then there is our lack of understanding of the distribution of the lawyer industry and personnel, leading to the investigation of lawyers has become a huge difficulty for us. Finally, we completed the task through a carpet search.
c. Statistical Results Questionnaires have a total of 21 questions. We surveyed a total of 3,150 copies. The overall statistics are as follows:
1. Nearly 57.33% of respondents believe that the death penalty is still a cruel punishment.
2. It is unclear or not known about nearly 90% of the respondents’ laws on the death penalty in China.
3. For the purpose of setting the death penalty, everyone thinks it is deterring him and preventing crime.
4. For the cause of crime, more people believe that the uneven distribution of wealth is related to the low level of personal ethics. Therefore, for crime prevention measures, nearly 60% of people think that they are arrested from the causes of crime and personal ethics.
5. More than half of the people opposed or strongly opposed the use of the death penalty.
6. For China's death penalty system, 52.19% support and 8.92% strongly support.
7. Their attitudes hardly change in the absence of false and wrongful cases in society.
8. For the number of 52.48% sentenced to death each year, it is considered to be open.
9. Nearly 60% of the abolition of the death penalty is opposed or strongly opposed.
six. After the practice of the 13 days of investigation and 4 days of statistics, I was investigating others and viewing some information and found that my point of view slowly changed. My understanding has been further improved than before. The following is my understanding after practice:
1. Although everyone thinks that the death penalty is a kind of cruel punishment, everyone still supports the death penalty system. However, at the same time, as the economy develops and some new ideas, people no longer support one thing but dialectically, so many people in the investigation remain neutral.
2. There is also a difference in the social experience of each person and the degree of education. In addition, the difference in occupation leads to different perspectives for each person to look at the problem, so each person's attitude is different. For example, the attitude of a farmer and a college student to treat the death penalty is quite different, and the attitude of a person engaged in judicial activities and a non-legal professional is also different.
3. Although China’s legal system is constantly improving, the public is not ignorant or dissatisfied with the current law. There is also the enforcement of the law, and the public is skeptical. One person said: "The legal knowledge is directed at the general public, and the binding force on the upper level is reduced." Through this investigation, I understand the lack of legal knowledge of the people, so we should strengthen the popularization of law, especially in poor and backward mountainous areas. .
4. Another point is that through field investigations, I found that the theory we study at school is difficult to apply in practice because the difference between theory and practice is too great. Therefore, our college students should actively exercise in practice besides learning theory.
Summary, this time is my second time to participate in summer social practice, but this time I feel that I have learned a lot. And my personal communication skills have improved, and I have found some of my shortcomings, which is a very unusual wealth for me. Let us apply what we have learned in practice to solve our social problems.
