Inspirational story: dreams are priceless
Inspirational story: dreams are priceless
From small to large, Mark’s family has always been poor – Mark has six brothers, three sisters, and a child who is fostered in his family. Although Mark has no money, the things at home are also very worn, but the family is full of love and concern.
Mark is happy and energetic. Mark knows that no matter how poor a person is, he can still dream of himself.
Mark’s dream is exercise. When he was 16, he was able to squash a football, throwing a fastball at 90 mph and hitting anything moving on the court. Mark’s luck is also very good. His coach is Olli Jarvis. He not only believes in Mark himself, but also teaches Mark how to believe in himself. He told Mark that knowing how to have a dream and enough confidence would make a difference in his life. Coach Jarvis changed Mark's life.
In the summer when Mark entered high school, a friend recommended him to do a summer job. This is a chance to make money – buying a bicycle and new clothes with money means the beginning of saving a house for his mother. This summer job is very tempting for Mark.
Mark realized that if he had to do the job, he had to give up the baseball game for the summer vacation, which meant that he had to tell Jarvis that he could not play. Mark told the coach that he was really as angry as Mark expected. "You still have time to go to work," he said. "But, the days of your practice are limited. You can't afford to waste."
Mark stood in front of him with a low head and tried to explain to him that for the dream of buying a house and pocket money for his mother, even if he was disappointed with Mark, Mark thought it was worthwhile.
“How much can you earn for this job, child?” he asked.
“$3.25 an hour,” Mark replied.
“Hey,” he asked. “Do you think that a dream is worth $3.25 an hour?”
This problem can't be simpler. It is naked in front of Mark, and he suddenly realizes it. In the summer of that year, Mark devoted himself to the movement. In the same year, Mark was picked up by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a team member and signed a contract worth $20,000. Later, Mark received a rugby scholarship at Arizona State University, giving him the opportunity to pursue higher education. Mark was named the best defender in the United States twice. Last year, Mark signed a $1.7 million contract with Denver’s Broncos. Mark finally bought a house for his mother and realized his dream.
